Jimmy Choo was born in Penang, Malaysia into a family of shoemakers. He made his first shoe when he was 11 years old. He is one of the most notable students of Cordwainers Technical College in London Borough of Hackney, London. The college is now part of the London College of Fashion. While attending college, Jimmy Choo worked part-time in a restaurant and as a cleaner in a shoe-factory in order to fund his education. In 1986, Jimmy opened his own workshop in London. His designs soon became noticed and and in 1988 Vogue featured eight pages of his creative shoes. In 1996, Jimmy co-founded Jimmy Choo Ltd. with British Vogue accessories editor Tamara Mellon. Since 2001, Jimmy has been working on his exclusive Jimmy Choo Couture line. The Jimmy Choo London line is also known as Jimmy Choo Ready-to-Wear. Jimmy Choo is currently collaborating with H&M. He currently lives in London and is still producing expensive high-end shoes.
